Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Last Olympian: Week of 1-27-14

Title: Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Last Olympian
Author: Rick Riordan
Pages Read: 1-Finish (1-377)
Prompt: Tell me about the main character. What kind of person is he/she?

*Spoiler Alert*

Percy Jackson is brave. Then again all the kids at his camp are brave. He is smart and can use the ocean or any source of water as his power. Though all demigods have a weakness. This weakness can kill them if they learn to gain control it. But their weakness can be their biggest character trait. Percy's biggest "weakness" is that he cares about close ones too much. I know that doesn't sound like much of a weakness but his enemies do use it as a weakness. In fact in the first three books all the missions he goes on are because he is missing close ones.
In the Last Olympian it is Percy and Kronos's final battle. They both make themselves so they cannot be stabbed or shot except for a secret spot of both of them. The army of demigods gets help from archers, centaurs, nature creatures, and Hades the god of the underworld. Many people are dying. There is lots of battles. The demigods are protecting the Empire State Building because thats where Olympus is located. Almost none of the gods are there because they are off fighting Typhon. Typhon is the greatest monster ever. If it were to get to Olympus all hope would be lost.
But the Gods stop the great Typhon. Luke was a demigod who turned bad and led the rebellion versus the gods. He offered Kronos his body so that Kronos could fight before he gained his true form. But there is still a little good left in Luke so he is fighting Kronos for his body. Percy tosses Kronos a knife but Luke takes back over the body. He stabs himself in his weak spot and he dies along with Kronos who was using his body. Finally Percy gets offered immortality. He denies it instead he asks that all children of the gods are recognized and all minor gods must also be recognized. So in the end they are all happy.

  2. Nice blog. You completely describe Percy's characteristics. I also like how you integrate a summery into the blog. It helps me understand the book better. Why would Percy decline immortality to have minor gods recognized?

  3. Great post this week! I really liked how you described the personality and characteristics of Percy in full detail. It seems that you have been reading the Percy Jackson series. Which one is your favorite book?

  4. I completely agree with you all the kids from the camp are brave. Personally my favorite camper would have to be the Travis and Connor Stoll. Even though Luke Castellan was a bad person, I don't know, I just seem to have a really soft spot for him.
